Little by little, a little becomes a lot. Same goes for small issues at home. And, if not addressed, those small issues can lead to an expensive disaster too—if no action is taken right away. Here are things to watch out for and repair immediately in your home before it’s too late!
Gas Leaks
Gas leaks can be dangerous because just a spark in an area where there’s a gas leak can cause a fire or explosion. If you smell guess gas or suspect that you might have a gas leak, don’t smoke, or light a match, candle or other flames. Don’t turn electrical appliances or lights on or off, operate machinery, or use any device that could cause a spark. Call your local gas company’s emergency hotline in order to get this addressed 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Water Leaks
Some leaks are obvious, like dripping faucets, but some are not—like water spots in your walls/ceilings. Fixing water leaks immediately will save you thousands of dollars not only from the water waste but also from structural damage that is caused by long-term water damage. For leaks, you can see, turn off the water for a quick fix and then call a plumber to really get to the issue.
Electrical problems.
You do not want to put this in your “fix later” to-do list. Issues like flickering lighting or loose outlets are signs of potential electrical safety concerns. Electrical problems should be addressed urgently to avoid the risk of a fire.

Broken Windows or Doors
For your own safety, broken windows and doors should be fixed right away. Make sure the locks work properly, screens are free of holes and any shattered glasses are replaced.
Concrete Cracks
Any small fault left unfixed can develop into huge and very pricey stress in the future, especially if the cracks are part of the foundation. Fill in those cracks that appear while still early, and contact a foundation specialist or structural engineer when necessary.
