Escondido Delicacy Is Not Your Aunt Ida’s Chicken Soup

Escondido has no shortage of Mexican restaurants. From glitzy white tablecloth Mexican to quick burritos or tacos, there is something for everyone.

Today, my son who was helping out at the office was complaining of a sore throat. For centuries, many cultures have touted the healing powers of chicken soup. And, believe it or not, the Mexicans also have chicken soup in their medicine cabinet.

There is no better place for chicken soup in Escondido than Lourdes Mexican Food on Escondido Boulevard. Located at 650 South Escondido Boulevard, Lourdes offers a very complete menu of Mexican delicacies. From menudo, posole, and quesadillas to breakfast burritos, Lourdes has it all. That being said, they are known throughout Escondido for their delicious chicken soup.

This is not your Aunt Ida’s chicken soup filled with egg noodles and large vegetables. This is your Abuelita’s sopa de pollo—with onions, rice, large pieces of white meat (tortilla or chips, and a large slice of avocado on the side).

Lourdes is open daily from until 9:00 p.m. Street parking is available and there is also a small parking lot behind the building. So, if you are looking to cure your next cold or just to fill your tummy on a cold day, I’d give their soup a try.
